Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, responded to her lawsuit claiming he owes her more than $2.6 million
Blackstock denied all of Clarkson's allegations and argued for the dismissal of her lawsuit as the ruling was finalized in Nov 2023
He pointed out that Clarkson missed the deadline to appeal within 10 days of the ruling
According to Blackstock's legal team, any earnings obtained from acting as Clarkson's unlicensed talent agency had already been paid out partially or in full to Clarkson
Clarkson's complaint was countered as failing to state sufficient facts to support a cause of action against Starstruck Entertainment
Representatives for Clarkson were not immediately available for comment regarding Blackstock's response to the lawsuit
In March, Clarkson initiated the lawsuit against Blackstock after the commissioner ruled that he and his company violated California's Talent Agencies Act by procuring employment for her without a proper license
The commissioner's ruling highlighted Blackstock's involvement in deals for the Billboard Music Awards, Wayfair, "The Voice," and Norwegian Cruise Lines, which were deemed violations of the Talent Agencies Act
Clarkson's lawsuit sought to void all agreements between them and demanded the return of all money paid by her to Starstruck
Clarkson argued for reimbursement of commissions, fees, profits, advances, producing fees, or other monies related to the unauthorized deals facilitated by Blackstock's company
Blackstock's attorney, Bryan Freedman, retaliated against Clarkson's claims, calling it morally, ethically, and legally wrong to demand money back from an ex-husband who had supported her career and their family during their marriage
This legal dispute adds to the ongoing financial struggles between Clarkson and Blackstock since their divorce in 2022, where Clarkson was ordered to make significant monthly payments for child and spousal support
Despite their legal battles, Clarkson and Blackstock continue to co-parent their two children, River and Remington, aged 9 and 8, respectively
